Unfortunately, we did have school today. We had a delay because of the snow but I really wanted to have off. Today was our last class of the semester. We got to retake the test that we took yesterday, which I needed. I got a 52% on the test from yesterday which brought my grade down a lot. I think I did better on the retake today. I hope I got at least a 70% so it can at least bring my grade back up to a C. If my grade doesn't go back up ill be in study hall next semester. I thought that the test was actually pretty hard. I kept getting confused between Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism. The easiest religion is Christianity but there were only like 3 questions about it on the test.

This was our last human geography class of this semester. We are supposed to get snow tomorrow so we might not have school and be done with human geography. Next semester im in Western Civilization with Mr. Fendryk. Overall, this class wasn't that a bad. I didn't like that we had to do blogs every night we had this class. I would always forget about doing them and it would bring my grade down a lot. Some classes we wouldn't have a lot to write about because we didn't do a lot in class that day.

             Christianity is the largest populated religion in the world. There are many different Christian denominations/groups. The largest Christian group is the Roman Catholics. Christianity revolves around Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It focuses on Jesus's life and teachings. Christianity teaches that Jesus is fully human and fully divine at the same time. The Christian place of worship is a Church. In churches, they hold masses and other ceremonies such as weddings or funerals. The Christian's holy book is the Bible. The people who follow Christianity, are called Christians.

             The next religion is Islam. Islam has 1.8 billion followers. It makes up about 24% of the whole world's population. The founder of then Islam religion is the prophet Muhammad. A follower of Islam is a Muslim. The God that they believe in is called Allah. The sacred book of Islam is the Quran. The Quran was preached by the prophet Muhammad. It is broken down into different chapters. It is expected for Muslims to read the complete Quran at least once. Islam is a Abrahamic religion. Muslims focus on the Five Pillars of Faith.

             The next religion is Buddhism. The followers of Buddhism refer to themselves as Buddhists. The religion of Buddhism focuses on being very spiritual. Buddhism came to be from the teachings and lessons of Buddha. Buddhism started in India and spread all over the world. Buddha's death date and birthday are unknown and a controversial topic. Buddhism was founded by  Siddhartha Guatama. They live by the Four Noble Truths .        

 Followers of Hinduism are called Hindus. India is 80% Hindu. 97% of Hindus are in India, making up more than 80% of Hindus population. The Hindus holy book is the Veda. They don't have a founder.

            Judaism is the 9th largest religion in the world, and was founded by Abraham. The followers are called Jews. They believe in the Ten Commandments.
           

The four Hindu Vedas are the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda, and Atharva Veda. The Rig Veda is the oldest sacred book of Hinduism. It is grouped into over 1,000 poems. It is also known as the "Rgveda". The Sama Veda contains 1,549 verses or poems. This Veda is a bunch of melodies or chants. The third Veda is the Yajur Veda. This veda can stand for or mean worshipping. This is used for rituals of worshipping. The Yajur Veda contains 1,875 verses in total. The final Veda is the Atharva Veda. It consists of chants, prayers, hymns, and charms. Some are used for protection. An indulgence is an excuse for a sin that has been committed. Martin Luther wrote the 95 Theses because he didn't believe that it was correct for sound to be guaranteed a spot in heaven after purgatory just because of a donation. Luther eventually left the church. The Hajj, which is the trip to pilgrimage to Mecca by Muslims, is encouraged that each person completes it at least once in their life. The Hajj takes place on the last month of the year. The Hajj is part of the Five Pillars of Islam, practices or rules followed by Muslims. It is typically about 5 days long. It stars on the 7th and ends on the 12th of the last month. You only participate in the Hajj if you are able to financially and physically.

The five religions in order of percentage of the world that follow it from the CIA website is: Christianity (31.4%), Muslim(23.2%), Hinduism(15%), Buddhist(7.1%), and Jewish(.2%). On adherents.com, the percentages aren't exactly the same anymore. Christianity had gone up to 33%. Islam/Muslim dropped to 21%. Hinduism only dropped one percentage to 14%. Buddhist is now 6%. Jewish is still the same percentage. The religions are still in the same order but there are a couple different religions in between them. Judaism is also in the category of "others". Christianity is the only one that went up in percentage. Christianity is still the number one religion followed in the world.

Today we had a review day. We went over the tests that we got back yesterday. There was one question that everyone was confused on and got wrong.  I also got that question wrong because it confused me. That's all that we did in our class today.

Today in class we looked at each other's essays. I am currently finishing my essay. Julia and I checked each other's essays in class. We also got our tests back and I didn't do to good but hopefully my essay and exam will bring my grade up.
