Today in class we took a quiz. The quiz was actually pretty easy. We usually use scan tron sheets when we take tests, but today we just used a normal test paper. I think when we use the scan irons it stresses me out because it reminds me of standardized testing which makes me nervous. The quiz was also a lot shorter then I thought it would be and didn't take as long. Tonight I am going to start doing my essay for exams. I'm going to try to finish my essay on or by Thursday night even though it's not due unti Friday.

Most of immigrants obstacles are political. Migrants need a visa to legally immigrate to a new country or a passport to legally emigrate from a country. Visas are usually granted to either employment placement or family reunification. The four types of immigration policies are maintain the current level of immigration, increase the level, reduce the level, and no policy. There are 32 countries that want fewer immigrants, 21 want more immigrants, and 116 countries would like to maintain the amount of immigrants. Lots of people that cannot immigrate legally into the United States, enter illegally. They can be referred to as an unauthorized immigrant, undocumented immigrant, or illegal alien. In 2014, it was estimated that there were 11.3 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. The amount of unauthorized immigrants entering the United States is less than the number leaving.

In class today, all that we did was listen to a podcast. We listened to the podcast and took notes on it. The podcast talked about immigration and prosecution. We talked about how the word asylum means a safe home. Immigrants come to the United States looking for a safe home. In 1951, Jews from Europe sailed a ship to the United States to escape the Nazis, but the United States denied them asylum. They all returned to Europe and were scattered into concentration camps. Most of them were also killed in the nazi concentration camps.
